Posted by: Fake_xu1 on November 19, 2003 [ Car Profile ]

Posted by: Fake_xu1 on December 5, 2003 [ Car Profile ]

Engine is in.. with no hassles! just had to get rocker cover screws, new thrust bearing and an alternator bracket biggrin.gif so i was well chuffed.... next its off to Cesco to get the Driveshaft made, was quoted roghly $700 with the yokes for the Celica Gear box and the VL Diff!..... Ordered a set of 3 K&N Filters for the Carbys on Friday.... So the whole project should dedinately be finished b4 xmas.....

The only thing left to be engineered are the Bucket seat mounts... guess i just have to give the measurements to an engineer and the rest should be simple! blink.gif hopefully!

crying.gif F#ck...... i am destined to never have this fricken car on the road! thumbdown.gif got a call late last night that my number 6 piston wasn't holding pressure... upon further investigation it seems my cylinder head is cracked sad.gif not the best of news, and not the cheapest of items to replace if it can't be fixed! Anyway it's at the machine shop and fingers crossed it can be salvaged.... clover.gif

Posted by: ODIN on February 18, 2004 [ Car Profile ]

no good to hear crying.gif

Posted by: Fake_xu1 on February 19, 2004 [ Car Profile ]

WooHoo... good news, atlast! Cylinder head fixed...with no charge (sounds dodgy, i know) and driveshafts have been modified for only $240.... so tomorrow we'll fire it up agian and make sure the wheels move! K&N Filters should be here tomorrow after a 10 week trip from America and my lil fuel gage too! thumbup.gif

Posted by: wyt.mx6 on February 20, 2004 [ Car Profile ]

Fake,
How much did you pay for the k&N filters??

Posted by: Fake_xu1 on February 23, 2004 [ Car Profile ]

smile.gif err i paid $330 for 3 K&N filters to fit my tripple delorttos.... think that including shipping! but i got mates rates from Auto Barn... biggrin.gif

Posted by: wyt.mx6 on February 23, 2004 [ Car Profile ]

I was just asking because i can get them from auto barn for cost or less than cost price. I've got one in my car also and only paid about $90 for my air filter.

Posted by: Fake_xu1 on February 23, 2004 [ Car Profile ]

Oh well! i'll keep that in mind for the future! my room mate (Eu4ria) works there so i normally get a half decent price~ It's always hard gettin something cheap in Darwin! ermm.gif

Posted by: HRD1966 on February 23, 2004 [ Car Profile ]

Hey man,

THe HR will be out on the streets over the next couple of weeks so we can go for a cruise. I blew the 202 up BIG TIME after I had just finished rebuilding the bastard so Im looking at building a motor like yours. Im looking at doing a couple of different things to yours though cause its in a HR which of course is smaller.

Anyways dude it looks SIC!

Good things those carbs hey??

MATTY aka HRD1966

It's ALIVE.... It's ALIVE...... laugh.gif woohoo, drove the beast last night.... just 20 metres or so but hey! still very exciting! And i must say it sounded AWESOME!!!! Eu4ria can vouch for that, by far one of the best sounding sixes i have ever heard..... but i'm pretty biased!

Should all be ready for sunday, so i can take her home and do some last minute tinkering! thumbup.gif

Posted by: HRD1966 on March 8, 2004 [ Car Profile ]

Sunday as in the 7th? I seen Tony pulling it out of the workshop on Saturday 6th and I was trying to get a listen but he shut it down before I could sadly! Oh well SOON!

ohmy.gif That is one of the most beautiful torry's i've seen in a long time. Well done.

Posted by: Fake_xu1 on June 9, 2004 [ Car Profile ]

Ok.... an update....

Everything is nearly done.... as usual! lol

Had a few dramas with my K&N filters, not musch room in the engine bay... so to save me taking to the bay with an angle grinder i have just fitted some smaller paper filters so that it is driveable!!!! i will probably look at using the velocity stacks i have with some sock filters and keep the K&Ns for a rainy day...

The car is at the engineers at the mo. and i will get it back next week, basically just getting some new seat brackets made, so that i'm not banging my head on the roll cage... a couple of small welding jobs and making sure my seatbelt mounts are legal. So next week it's off to the pits and see what MVR have to say.. fingers crossed i won't have to modify to much to get my roadworthy!

That's about it.. the car has done about 20km now and still running, so that's good news biggrin.gif

picture as of last week...

Posted by: SIRIUS on June 22, 2004 [ Car Profile ]

hey nice car dude...love the look of triples on a six...had bought triples for my valiant but lost intrest when i found a nice nice V8....now that is in the shed an i have joined the turbo craze...lol

Posted by: plxcommodore on September 29, 2004 [ Car Profile ]

but the torana looks like a shitbox!
no offense, the performance and stuff is prolly a1 but the shape of the car looks so shit! u should of done up a better looking car!
no offense to what u have spent ur time on, but these cars just look ugly whether u do them up fully, or just leave them stock!

Posted by: Fake_xu1 on September 29, 2004 [ Car Profile ]

Thanx for the comments guys... as for the shape, well i guess it's each to their own. I personally love the shape.. so no complaints about spending the time and money!

thanx again. cool.gif

lol my mummy insisted i have a cage for extra safety... she's very over protective!!! icon4.gif

1. yeah i'll probably race it at some track days.
2. For asthetic reasons
3. It's there if ever i need it
4. i don't trust my own driving
5. It was planned/budgeted for in the project
6. It looks good (IMO)
7. I don't have to have back seats
8. Gives me something else to polish
9. It's a talking point
10. WHY NOT!

Posted by: zorb_rules on October 1, 2004 [ Car Profile ]

*lol* fair enough mate I was just wondering thats all. I actually heard from a friends who investigates crashes for the RACV that roll cages in an accident actually cause more damage than they provide protection in most instances. smile.gif but hey uve given me plenty of reasons and it all sounds good to me.

THanks

Posted by: yzovelle on November 16, 2004 [ Car Profile ]

Have you taken it down to Hidden Valley yet? cool.gif

Posted by: Fake_xu1 on November 16, 2004 [ Car Profile ]

Not yet! but i'll be down there for next year for sure! thumbup.gif

Posted by: Van454 on November 29, 2004 [ Car Profile ]

Looks very tough. By the way, as far as the cage goes you forgot to mention that you will also get better handleing due to the added stiffness(not in your pants). Also I hate to be the one to say it but, what a load of crap about roll cages doing more harm than good. If a cage is correctly installed and has padding it could save your life. Ever noticed how race drivers walk away from crashes that would have ambos hosing you out of a road car. I wonder if the cage has something to do with this?

Posted by: zorb_rules on November 29, 2004 [ Car Profile ]

Also ever noticed how a race car is constructed in a much diferent way to a street car...the statistics show it acoording to what he says...but lokk dude whatever I dont care that much...think about the internal construction of a race car compared to that of a street car...and in any accident I dont reckon the roll cage it the life saver its the bloody racing harnes..something like 50% of all car accident injuries are incured by the driver being thrown around the cabin..a roll cage wouldnt stop this it would increae the change of injury...where as a hrness keep the driver in his seat but hey it doesnt matter I was wondering....It's also interessting to point out the fact that why in many states are roll cages illegal without an engineers certificate and why arent companies forced to install them in all new cars in they are so safe...

Posted by: zorb_rules on November 29, 2004 [ Car Profile ]

but hey look I dont mind I was just asking him a question before...so yeah no need to bite my head off...

Posted by: Van454 on November 30, 2004 [ Car Profile ]

Sorry dude wasn't trying to be harsh. Fair point about the harness but the biggest difference in the constuction of a race car is the cage. Oh and you need an engineers for just about everything if you want to get technical. The reason that new car manufacterers don't use cages is because in the rollover tests they are allowed to use the windscreens as part of the structure, this is ok as long as you only go over once or twice but once your screen is gone the rook has all the rigidity of limp spagetti. Also you are correct about most injuries being caused by being thrown around in the car, thats why you must have padding on the cage.

Posted by: Van454 on November 30, 2004 [ Car Profile ]

Oh yeah and the reason it's 50% of injuries in all accidents is that rollovers are only a small %

Posted by: zorb_rules on November 30, 2004 [ Car Profile ]

Yeah fair enoguh I gots no beef was just pointing it out that was all but i'd never put a roll cage in a car I know my old man used to have one in his SLR and IU found it a shit of a thing but hey each to their own. I understand it has a purpose just was pointing out a few things smile.gif

Posted by: HRD1966 on February 7, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

GUYS!

I think the rollcage is in the car to get it RIGID and get it going in a straight line with the amount of HP it pushes... I will be pushing close to twice as much when I build my engine thats why I will be running a 6 point cage in my ute with a BRAND NEW CUSTOM chassis and a HEAP of other shit just to make it strong...

Disagree with me... Go to your local drags and ask a professional and see what he says! Mine also will be a 550HP HR Holden Ute...

Posted by: wishihadaVL on November 9, 2005

i need the lowdown on this car
is it really worth doin it up for anything but bragging rights...
have you done 1/4 mile in it yet
