the car is still at workshop doing final touch up. will be another 2 or 3 week b4 i can take a picture, will post it up after it, btw, the side sticker was 6400i instead of 5800i, becuase it was a 390ci, but have problem with it thats why i change to 5.8l + bullet proof bottom end. rest of the sticker on the side, well, is just for fun:P. |

damn and how much did all this mods cost you? im wondering whether to do up my VN or do up a newer car, coz eventually you will need to replace each part of the car one by one so i duno if its worth doing up.. |

how much did this cost me? enough to buy a new HSV, and still have spare money to modify. its a BIG HOLE to jump into, but hay, HSV dont do this kind of machine do they?
i started little, like change wheels and suspension, and then bodykit, and then.... out of hand.
what kinda newer car u are talking about,? VP-VS? if so keep to what u have now, they pretty much the same, except IRS, which i dnot think it really matter too much.
the car only worth doing it up when u think its worth it, if selling the car is ur goal in 1 year time, dont mod it, if u think about selling in 10 year time.. maybe u can put money into it, if u think about u going to keep ur whole life, ~~ PUT UR LIFE SAVING INTO IT lo..haha and end up like me. got a mean machine.. but no money my self.
^^ good luck with ur decision lo. VN is good car if u do it rite. dont listen to some other ppl talk about crap that VN is not good. i dont think Vn is bad at all or else i would not put my money into it.
p.s. i have a jap celica 1996, i dont modify it much as i like V8 better just got different raw~~ |

car moving parts will need to replace overtime, but not just becuase AGE, its also how previous owner treat the car, my celica traveled 119000km, it runs like dream, but the car i drove overseas, NISSAN MARCH, it is also 1996, and travelled around 95000km, it already seems like it gonna crap it self out. (already replace trans 2 times, engine mount once, suspention once, etc). sometimes age is not the only factor.
i only had powersteer pump problem and suspension bush replaced on my car, but i replaced everything u can name, so i didnt really go through the lifespan for each car part.
if u worry about spent too much on repair the car, get a toyota corolla, i am sure it is very reliable. and pretty cheap parts too ( how u pull chicks with that car is another story:P). just joking:P .. good luck with ur VN and hopefully u wont change ur taste for VN:P .haha |

fuck bro how much petrol do u burn on ur vn? how much u pay each week for a decent travel each week? and is ur exhaust like only the tip is big, or the whole muffler tube is big? |
|
Posted by: hotsv1 on September 15, 2004 |
[ Car Profile ] |
how much gas? too much, its not a cruise machine for sure, basically 1L per every 3 km i think, therefore, i dont pay much at all, because i dont drive much, only for weekend drive. about 30$ per week should be plenty for fun drive, but not for long drive. the muffler is 5" at tip, but its already 3 and 1/2" all the way the the header, both side, 4 into 1 custom build extracto(equal length), HPC coated all the way through, 2 muffler per side, = 4 mufflers.. but still loud as in high RPM.
its got high cam so its a bit lumpy, but hay, i like it .. haha |

hey u probably wil think im pretty dumb, but i need to know where to put two things into my VN..
1) where does the coolant go? does it go in the white water tank or can only water go in there? im not talking about the windscreen wiper tank, the other one which i think is for water? coz i havent put coolant in before. and do you mix it with water or put 100% coolant and how much do u put in? 2) where do u put Automatic Transmision Fluid in? this guy showed me before, it was a little hole, but i forgot where it was i dont wana put it in the wrong hole...
can u describe where abouts i put these 2 fluids into the car and how much i put in? thanks heaps bro |
|
Posted by: plxcommodore on September 20, 2004 |
[ Car Profile ] |
i know about coolant and i know if it mixes with water, it boils faster and is therefore less effective, but i duno where else to put it in? helpppppppp |
|
Posted by: hotsv1 on September 20, 2004 |
[ Car Profile ] |
hi, the transmission fluid u top up from where the measuring stick goes, top it up slowly. i am not sure how much trans fluid u need, as i get the car serviced. for engine coolent, u top up from the cap where the radiator goes, but i think some VN u need to top up from the bottle, next to the window washer bottle. i think its best to use coolent not just plain water, becuase coolent have rust proof agent, therefore protect ur radiator and engine from rust(inside). u use the coolent as instruction says. use water only for temperary top up. and be sure to flush ur coolent every year to keep ur cooling department clean and efficient.
follow instruction at back of the coolent bottle.
any problem i am glad to help. if i know the answer |

thanks!
so how much did u buy ur front bumper, the thing between the front lights (i duno wat its called), the thing on ur hood (that bump i also don know wat its called lol) and your sideskirts? i wana get the same body kit u have , but i dont want that wing ,i just wana get a spoiler yeh so how much can u get those bits for? thanks again |
|
Posted by: hotsv1 on September 29, 2004 |
[ Car Profile ] |
that wing cost the same as the other bodykits added together, but not many ppl like it . anyway, the one on the bonnet is called a bonnet scoop or bulge. the kit (front bumper, rear bumper, side skirt, bonnet scoop.. is from a VN SS group A, it is replica becuase real item will cost too much. i think it will cost about NZ1000 - 1500 for the whole thing added together. the one between the lights is called 'Grill', the one i got is SV3800 grill. Group A do have a grill that goes with whole kit, its big cover up one though.
if u want to put the kit, be sure to lower the car and get big wheel, because the kit will make the car look too fat , it meant to go with at least 17" and lowered to look nice^^
u can buy the bodykit from any good bodykit shop. i am not sure where u can get in Australia, but i am sure there is lot of places u can get for. SPOILER shop or Bodykit shop. look in the commodore megazine, u will find some good shop there.
Cheers

o cool thanks man
lol another question i got 5 litres of premixed coolant , but i dont know how u drain the old coolant out? i heard something about running water through it while the car is running to clean it out, and i can see about 3 or 4 pipes coming out of it, i duno which ones im supposed to take out to clean the tub... what do u do? |
|

[ Car Profile ] |
i think u need to get a commodore VN repair manual from book shop^^, i used to have one, its very handy, u will need it:).
logically u remove the radiator hose (bottom one) to drain the coolent out, put radiator hose back on and then top up with new coolent.
i dont do that kinda service myself as i always get car services at shop.
no worry about all da question, i help what i can help^^
there should be some sites on the net which will guide u step by step of how to do those things.

how ya doing hotsv1? i like your design with your vn commodore, its always good to see diffrent designs that other people havent come up with.just woundering how much did it cost ya for the twin muffler system ,as i will be putting a twin muffler system on my vn v6 take a look at my page if u wish. |
|
Posted by: hotsv1 on October 3, 2004 |
[ Car Profile ] |
i am good thx madsav
my commodore was a V6 commodore, and i used to have a twin muffler (fake) which take the twin pipe from the end muffler and extend one to the other end . its the cheapest way to go twin with v6 .
this muffler are all customised from front to end, which costed me around 4000-5000 ish, with full system HPC coated (1000 worth). i had problem with fat 3.5" pipe going from to the back and up around the rear diff housing. need to watch out for clearence or else ur muffler wont go far). the car dont look that low, but muffler clearence at bottom are only 5cms. wanna go lower but i guess thats it for me >< .
u need to remove ur petrol tank if u are going for a twin, that means u have to move ur fuel tank some where else.
i suggest if u want most cost affective way for a twin, just split the end muffler in 2, and extend to each side, but the problem is u need a rear skirt to cover the piping^^.
nice to see commodores on da web. good luck with ur muffler

Its great to see some really tuff cars on the web. That is one mean fuker. Hate to think what it must have cost...but i guess those of us building cars don't add these things up, best not to know. 550rwhp is awesome, is that on the bottle? Thats more than the big block that I'm putting in my car. |
|
Posted by: hotsv1 on November 30, 2004 |
[ Car Profile ] |
:thx for ur comments it is true those of us who build cars dont add the cost up, it is pointless, its the end product that we want. p.s. more money dont mean better car rite? we crazy car freaks can pay big bucks to build the car we want. obviously money not an issue.
the 550rwhp is just an safe estimate RWHP (better be conservitive then bluffing rite?). in reality, the engine is built for close to 600HP, plus nos support safely up to 200HP at least. the real number need to see on the dyno. however, last dyno test killed my rear tire without even switch on the nos. (doing a dyno SHOOTOUT, i dont expect that tire chunks really do SHOOTOUT from the rear tire, now i know what dyno shoot out really means, FUK, 285/30 ZR18 tires costed $1000 EACH!). |
|
Posted by: hotsv1 on November 30, 2004 |
[ Car Profile ] |
in my history of building cars, quite a bit of money goes down the toilet. like the dyno 'tyre' SHOOTOUT, i losted 2000 for a $50 dyno .....
my last engine was 6400, that one down da toilet too, becuase of an bad engine builder.
we learn from our mistake tho
thats what adds up |

QUOTE (hotsv1 @ Nov 17 2004, 04:52 PM) | thx for ur comment:) u have got a nice commodore urself. p.s how come u go from VR n step back to a VP?? u like older commodores??
holden all da way~ | I wouldn't really a 'step back' as this car goes sooo much harder than my previous VR. I kinda have a soft spot for VP's anyway... One question, where did you get your T-Wing from?? Looks like it came straight off a VR/VS Supercar! Pretty schnazzy if I do say so myself |
|
Posted by: hotsv1 on January 4, 2005 |
[ Car Profile ] |
yes, the T-wing is supercar style wing, got from nz shop that makes bodykits, i am sure there is few shop make that wing in AU too, seen it in some megazines. i dont like the T wing at first, but then, it makes car look more agressive then standard wing, aggressive is the look i am aiming at, thats why i still go with the T wing. now i like the look of the whole package~
depends on ppl, some like my car and some hate my car. there's one 7 year old kid walked past my car and said, what a UGLY car, but then, lot of holden fans walked by and said, CAN I SEE UR ENGINE BAY? some go on the floor and look under the car. there some ppl against my T wing, mainly my family. they got used to it, soo~~ for ppl like my car, good on ya, ppl dont like my wing or car~~~ get use to it hahaha~~ |
|
Posted by: yzovelle on January 18, 2005 |
[ Car Profile ] |
That's the way!!! It's your car, not theirs. It's like that over here too. Aggressive is kinda what I'm aiming for as well, but I also wanna keep it looking subtle. I think mine pulls that look off nicely.
PS: You actually let a 7 year old call your car ugly?! |
|
Posted by: hotsv1 on January 18, 2005 |
[ Car Profile ] |
want aggressive look but subtle at same time? i think subtle look and aggressive horse power is very nice^^.. i agree ur car hp and look match nicely~~ where u want ur project to end?
well, about that 7 year old, cant do nothing about it, i am in da car, they are behind the car, and there is an 'women' taking care of the 7year old. .. well, i could always put car in reverse, and roll them over.MY two big fat tire would roll them over nice n flat~hahaha.. (just kidding ).
there is lot of ppl out there, criticising others rides, but most of them either have a crappy car, or NO CAR at all. i think ppl should appreciate others effort. even though not their taste. |

i have put 2 4" computer fan blowing fresh air in, and 2 4" fan sucking hot air out. . it let air flowing more freely to cool the amps more effecient. i installed on side of the supporting frame, and covered by top board, thats why u dont see it |

[ Car Profile ] |
Hi, the spoiler are not cheap, those are carbonfibre ones, i am sure u can buy it in Australia, ask Good spoiler shops, they should know where to get them, those are VR group A rear T wing. i think if u wanna modify ur car, if u want out side look good, start with the bottom half of the car, such as, spring, big wheels, or bottom half body kit, make the car look bigger first before u buy that wing, becuase else it will look 'too much' .

Hey again. Long time (no see!). The last time I posted a comment on your site, I had the black VP SS 'YZOVELLE'. That got sold and I bought another VP SS 'ITZWAR' which was alot of fun. I've now uprgaded to a VT ClubSport R8 which I've aptly named 'R-R8ED'... It's good to see your VN evolving everytime I see it. Who knows, the next time I see it next, you'll be packing a Gen 3 V8 (nudge, nudge)!!! Keep the VN EVOLUTION going cuz as they say "Things can only get better". |

thx dude~ u changed a few cars since we last conversation, maybe next time i see u, u might have monaro HDT427 , nice car u got there, nice colour too. keep up the efforts~ ^^, i still have few adjustment to do, but dont have much time to play with as i am overseas now. maybe its a tidy up pariod for me,( painting the car, remove dents). i sent the car to paintshop for 3 months to tidy up the car while i oversea. hope the car turns out great~ |

A HRT427... is there room on Santa's sleigh cuz I've been good all year! My R8 is a pretty much a VT version of ur VN. Both r frm the Holden 'stables', blue, have mesh rims, V8, and go like a pair of possesed cats. Spooky! |
|
Posted by: hotsv1 on July 20, 2006 |

i think hrt427 is too heavy for santa's sleigh, wait till santa replace his randeer with bigger BALLS (BULLS) too pull all that weight, and santa need to lose weight himself too. dont u think thats too much things mr santa need to do before he can get u the car? i guess if he get the car, he would keep it instead of giving to u~ or anyone else. haha..
now u mentioned it, our car do look alike, just in different time pariod, how coincident can that be? pitty i am not in AU or else we could go out for a photoshot, ^^
p.s. HRT427 is lot of ppl's dream, even if u been a good boy, if santa decide to give the car away, u may got just a bonnet at end of the day. HAHHA, KIDDING~ |
