Hello.. Bought this tx5 about christmas 2003, completly stock as a rock. Had only done 124,000kms so i was pretty rapt. Plus i bought it off a old lady so i knew it wasnt rapped too hard so thats pretty legit. Slowly doin it up.. want to get a exhaust system happening soon..dunno if i should get 3incha or just 2n1/5... i doubt i will run too high boost caus im paranoid i will launch a piston out mi bonnet.. and plans for a mass cooler and big pipes to match it.

Hey I nearly brought taht green car 2 weeks ago when I was buying mine. test drove it and everything yeah that front mount is bloody huge and the cooler makes a great sound. IT was a nice car mechanically but apperance wise it needed a bit of work. he wanted 7,500 for it I talked him down to 6,800 but decided to get my balck one instead. The car was quick but you know, hadnt really be maintained the best and needed some work. NEwayz yeah intercooler is huge.

That intercooler looks NUTS! looks mean! shows how much difference a good paint job can make to the look of a car....mite have to get me one of those

hmmm, im a fan of the tx5 cos i have one !! , but i reakon that looks so ugly....bad choice of paint, and it looks like its badly maintained.......
and the intercooler is a bit over the top, plus its a truck intercooler which doesnt work that well compared to half decent one.

Yeah he did speak a heap of shit but yeah. As if it'd be serviced every month. He wasnt go get a rwc for it or nothing and the paint job was pretty shit he did it himself. only good thing on it was the bloody cold air intake which looked sweet but other than that it was pretty shitful really I much prefered my black one. What do you guys think should I have got the green one of the blackj one I now have? green was a 1988 mines a 1991 I got mine for 6,000 and it was standard except for the turbo time and some parts of the sound system. Green one I could have got for 6,800 minus rwc. Let me know.

i havnt seen the car in person, but from the looks and what he wrote, its a piece of crap, with a front mount, with is a truck core..hahaha

Much better to start off fresh, annd then modify it yourself. It means that you don't have someone else f*ck up to deal with. But you may be able to pick up a sweet deal from someone, if it's been done right.

im not saying your talking shit, who knows, u might have invoices ect to show ur car was serviced every 30 days, who knows, but if u do, you'd be the first guy in aus to be doing it.
Secondly, when did i say the cooler was bad for the car? all im saying is that its a truck core, which as many ppl know, arnt designed for injected engines and dont allow alot of air flow compared to water-air.

Hey man yeah i pretty happy with mine I mean urs was a good car for its age and it looked like a bit of cash had been spent on in but I eneded up getting mine a newer and a bit better looking car (due to its age and different interior design) for only 6000 meaning ive got just under 2500 bucks to spend on it in order to get it looking good (that kinda money I wouldnt have had to spend on yours). But yeah its nice Ive had a full service and rwc done by my mechanic (who my family and I have been using for 5years) and mechnics and rwc wise I only had to spend 300bucks on it. SO im pretty happy. but feel free to comment on the one I have I dont mind at all tell me what you think and even better what you know about it and the ownwers use of it (just incase you can point out ne unnoticed problems)

oh and originally I saw ur car advertised for 7,500 thats why I wrote that.

ahh and due by badly maintained I just meant like the little things like the power window not workin, the headlight cracked,the alarm lights not workin and the tint peeling just shit like that nothin bad but all stuff that would need replacing. and by talking shit I mean the fact that u apparently had 2 other people coming back the same day I was there too look at and buy the car but obviously u still havent sold it. and even more uve just told me I didnt know shit then u asked me which one was I I mean whats that saying dude *lol* but who cares ya car was nice just not what I was really looking for that all I got no probs with u or ya car. good luck selling it. and honestly dude I dont know shit about cars Im a car detailer and work for ford so apperance wise I know a shit load but mechnically I dont know shit. si I dont have a problem with u sayin that.

hey turbo-boy i was just reading bout ya exhaust man if ya havent got it yet and ya looking at getting one dont go more that 2 1/2 inch if ya goin from the engine back cause when I was gettin mine done we tried a 3 inch system but the problem was everytime it reved hard back flow in the exhaust (i think) caused the comp to shut down and we had to wait 15mins before we could restart the car (this happened 2or3 times).

hey guys I had a bit of fun 2day out with my old man on this nice neat lil bit of road Of i know we took his 2 cars out (BA XR6 turbo and ba fairlane g220) and my tx5. the xr6 absolutly raped me off the line beat me by a bloody mile, Fairlane I was pretty even with its top end speed was heaps quicker but I got a heaps better start off the line so I beat it even though it caught up hardcore.

hey guys... just as i was getting my service, i asked my mechanic why is my tx5 wasting so much oil.. i had only done around 4 thou k's and it was very low.. he ill have a look at ya turbo.. well he had a look and all the seals and shit are fukt.

sooooooo.. i gotta fork out a around 600 - 700 to get the bitch new seals and balanced..

im thinking of getting it high flowd as well...

any of u guys had any similar troubles. ???

Dude I had a full on turbo blow a short while back seals, and all shaft was bent it was totally stuffed. I got my fixed up had it hi flowed and also got somethim done to do with reshaping the turbines not sure how it works exactly but all up including labour cost be round 1300. She's goes a heap harder now but is still blowing smoke Ive taken it to 3 mechanics and a turbo place and their all stumped best idea they can come up with is oil in the muffler *lol*

lol i had the exact same problem with my tyres, except mine were twice as bad. i took my tx in 2 get new tyres and he said "theyre down to the steel belt. a few more k's and they would have blown" hehe they were like slicks, literally

just blew my gearbox, anyone know a good place i could pick up a cheap second hand one..

i would suggest any wreckers but if you've got the cash and time i'd suggest looking for and mx-6 turbo box there a heap stronger and will save you cash in the long run..

i heard mx6 boxes are identical...

anyway i found the cheapest i could find, tx5 box $1600, its done 90 thou on it

well I was told the setup was identitical but the box was made to eb alot stronger I found this out when researching how much it would cost to have my converted from auto to man.

Box is in, new thermostat, radiator flush - runs cold as now

do you have wheel rubbing probs with the super lows especially with poeple in the back or have you adjusted the camber of the wheels or something hey the roads are nice and wet atm i love fwd in the wet

Now that i got these rims it does rub sometimes at the back wen i take corners fast, but thats the only time. ahhh wet weather.. its actaully not normal driving a tx5 turbo in the wet. still spinning in 4th and im like "farrrrrrrrk"

dude, jus a couple of quick questions on painting ur break calipers. what sort of paint did you have to use? im guessing you had to take the calipers right off? basically, how did you do it cos im gonna do mine on wednesday. cheers

hey man, i just got the stuff from supercheap auto, theres propa stuff called brake calliper paint, its heat resistant and woteva, i painted my rocka cover with it aswell. it was around 10bux i think. i didnt take the calipers off, i just sprayed it straight it on.. i uesd heaps of rags/cardboard and tape so i wouldnt spray on other shit. It prolli best to get some sort of surface preparation i rekon caus u gotta do a few coats before it really sticks onto the metal. okay goodluck

Been working on my this r33 for the last couple weeks, few "backyard modifications", seeing as the owner has lost his licence.... and will be looking for it for months to come, i have been given the crown of designated driver, trust me boys its hard goin back to tx5 after driving one of these things
