Posted by: QIK-TX5 on March 9, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

my regular mechanic (dave at lara automotive) told me $500-$600 if it's just the gasket and the head hasnt cracked or warped (hopefully it hasnt) yeah motor show sounds good - ok i jus checked and it's $16.50 for adults - i may have to follow you guys up cos i dunno what time you guys will wanna leave but i gotta work at 6pm on sat nite - i'll call you tonight sometime after u get home from work 2 talk bout it

Posted by: xtreme tx5 on March 29, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

hey texy, yeah i painted the dash myself i just taped up the windows and used a custom mixed can from autobarn (black with red pearl)just make sure to sand down lightly and spray some plastic adhesive first, then after ur colour coats spray a clear coat.u hasen a motor, what area u in?

Posted by: xtreme tx5 on March 30, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

im in brisbane, n e wayz bro ur interior looks good white.it dont cost much if u do the work urself i spent about 200-300 bucks on mine. u can get cans of carpet dye i've used on my roof lining. how did u get ur dash lights blue? looks sick maaaate.

Posted by: QIK-TX5 on March 30, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

dude he just used the stock globes, pulled off the green plasticky stuff and put on some sort of blue contact.

i think i'll be doing my dash black aswell, with a blue instead of texy's white, cos i wanna colour code the interior like yours, with blue and black to match my steering wheel and the custom door trims i'm getting for REALLY CHEAP! smile.gif i love the interior on yours bro, and the colour coding of the engine bay...looks 'fully sik' as thorpey would say icon4.gif

nice bro, i love your work!

Posted by: zorb_rules on March 31, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

why dont ya juts got out and buy blue led globes they fit fine and cost like 15bucks much more effcetive if done right...im doing it soon gonna have differtent colours for each of my gauges....

Posted by: zorb_rules on March 31, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

ohh btw if ya go to autobarn and ask for the autometer globe boots ya can get the same effect also there like 10 bucks for a back of 4 and they just go over the top of the globes where the old green ones used to be...they come in red, blue, green.

Posted by: Texy_5 on March 31, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

i tried doing the led in the stock plugs and the light covers but ford (or mazda) have mixed a green tinge into the "white" writing therefor anything behind the dials are not going to work ive got two blue neons shining down onto the front of the dials to light them up, simple, except you cant see any red so no redline, no empty on fuel and no hot on the water guage.

Posted by: zorb_rules on March 31, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

hasnt happened for the ones ive seen they just replaced the bulbs that was it...more info on mx6.com if ya need help..but from all the ones ive seen they've just used LED"s/globes and cahnged the colour of the whole cluster...maybe what your talking about just occured in the earleir models.

Posted by: Texy_5 on April 8, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

got my new motor yesterday first thing i found was a larger throttle body in the throttle body there is two butterflys the top can open before the other and in the Aus NA throttle body the top butterfly opens cosiderably before the bottom one and the top one is smaller than the bottom 41mm-44mm in my new throttle body the top is larger and doesnt open that much before the bottom 47mm-41mm there is only 3mm differance in the whole lot Aus 41+44=85 and Jap 47+41=88 but it might make a differance i hope

Posted by: Texy_5 on April 19, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

alright i got the new motor in(2 weeks ago) and it took a bit of encoraging to start ended up gettin it started but on 2 cyl and spewed smoke everywhere so it went back to the guys where i got the motor from (1 week ago) and they got it going on all four and claimed to have fixed it
what they were saying it was doing is filling up the black box under the intake pipe and sucking the oil into NO.4 cyl but the smoke still is pouring out (tonite) what do you guys think of it.

Posted by: zorb_rules on April 20, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

well last opil problem i had on my car took em enalry two weeks to get rid of all the spoke before the engine and exhuast were right again..this was when my turbo blew...apaarently oil builds up on the muffler and cat which starts to burn adding twice as much smoke so it could just be reminants...i know my mates was so bad he had to remove the muffler. they cut it in half and it was chock a block full of unburnt oil.

Posted by: QIK-TX5 on May 5, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

well dude, all that 'getting a new car when i get a full time job' talk is over. i got a new job yesterday and it's giving me an extra $300 per week. and what does that mean, you say? well, it means that in 6 weeks time i will have my parents paid off and then 3-4 weeks after that i will have an Fe-DOHC sitting in my garage biggrin.gif this is if all goes to plan. usually i cant save for peanuts, except when i really want something. and i REALLY want this! i've wanted to do this for a long time, and now it may finally happen. i mean the motor will be sitting in my garage gathering dust until i can save up the cash for the engine management system and the labour to wire the motor up and tune the EMS (putting it in can be done without the help of a mechanic cos it just bolts straight in exactly the same as the f2) but that doesnt matter cos once it's sitting in my garage i'll be motivated to work my ass off to get the cash to get it into my car.

this isnt another one of my 'ideas'...this could actually happen! and when it does i'll have more power than a stock standard f2t...and because i've already got the gearbox in my car, nothing else needs replacing biggrin.gif Booyah!

Posted by: Texy_5 on May 29, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

finally got a gearbox goes in tomorrow nite, watch out im back

Posted by: Telstar_New on June 20, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

can u tell me where to get a new dash.....Like ur white one????????

Posted by: TRBOMX on June 21, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

that's just the stock dash. he sanded it back, primed it, then sprayed it white. Very BRIGHT!

Posted by: Texy_5 on June 22, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

gearbox is in now its a bit weaker than my old one, i can feel it through the accelerator and clutch and especially through the shifter, plans are to repair the old one and strengthen it with (ahem) TURBO (ahem) parts

with the dash its a light sanding followed with a spray plastic primer and then spray paint form autobarn the cans are only $10 each. if your going to do it, take the parts out and do them individually

the paint is called powerplus its good i used it on my front grille, it used to be red,

Posted by: QIK-TX5 on July 17, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

yeah glen, and i wonder WHY it was red! *COUGH*

Posted by: Texy_5 on July 18, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

she diddnt deserve it do you know how oxidised the paint was on it , i saved that grilles life, the stupid woman has still not washed her car and the grille was "sold" six months ago

Posted by: MXSTYL on August 9, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

hey man, elliott here. i re-did my car profile on totalrpm and put up the new photo's i took after i removed the spoiler and FINALLY got my Turbo Timer working. Check it out, profile is MXSTYL - oh yeah, and that lady doesnt deserve that tx5 if she hasnt washed it in 6 months! my mx6 on the other hand is nice and shiny...pitty i cant drive it!

Posted by: gombatron2000 on October 9, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

good idea with CAI, i was going to do something similar but only duct it through a scoop coming out the side of the front bar

Posted by: BJaw on October 10, 2005 [ Car Profile ]

Hey Dude,

I like the new AV grille you installed on the AT front.

On your grill that you replaced:

1) Does the AV grille fits straight into AT front without special drilling/mounting?

2) Regarding painting the grille, did you have to sand down the previous red color before respraying with white. How many coates did you used?

cheers,

Posted by: SABBAi on February 19, 2006 [ Car Profile ]

HI mate. Which Pedders store did the lowering of your car? That is the ride height I am looking for. No one will go that low. Even Kings SUper Lows aren't that low.

Also, how much did the Drift cannon set you back?

Car looked good before the front end crunch.

Cheers

Scott

Posted by: Texy_5 on March 7, 2006 [ Car Profile ]

id like to know where it was lowered too , i got these from a friend who was wrecking an MX6 the suspension was on the wreck when he bought it . a little info tho they are the lowest pedders available and then they were compressed, ill put some pics of the new front on soon

Posted by: Texy_5 on March 7, 2006 [ Car Profile ]

cannon was $200 at autobarn 2.5" in 4" out you can get 3"in 4" out
