DanTX5's Comments:

This car was bought in central qld for $1000 and was in pretty crap condition when it was bought. The main reason for buying there is that it had absolutely no rust. I have so far spent $6000 on it and it goes pretty hard now and is starting to look alright from my perspective. Please leave feedback to tell me what u recon and what I could improve. I am planning on a turbo in the future, but for a naturally aspirated 4 it runs pretty quick.

New piston rings, New radiator, new piping (as alot of them went, new spark plugs.

15 inch Speedy Holotype-R rims with 195 Nankang sports tyres. Painted Calipers red, which came up quite well.

looking nice, but i strongly suggest paying some attention to the suspension next. The stock ride hight on the AT is extremely high, and doesnt do the cars looks any justice whatsoever.

apart from that, its lookin good. i was considering doing the turbo conversion in my AT and talked to a few of the guys on TOTALRPM.COM and it's really not worth it for the amount it costs. talk to Blinky Blitz about that..

one more thing...wanna drag icon4.gif (go the N/A)

Hey Qiktx5,

I saw that u got low king springs, how does it drive with the stock suspension. And, does it at all scrape sometimes and do u have trouble with gutters?

Cheers!

Daniel

Hey Dan,

The Low Kingsprings work well. They were $258 for front and back. They dont make them for the 88 model, the earliest model i could find was the 93, and they fit perfect.

It doesnt scrape at all on gutters or speed humps. When the car's fully loaded (5 peeps) the guard is only a few of mm from the tyre, but it doesnt touch at all. Tho this is the reason i wouldnt get super lows, because it would scrape with one person in the back.

On the matter of the springs and the stock suspension; on the flat rides pretty smooth, but over train tracks or little bumps or potholes it is a little bit bumpy because the springs are compressed a lot more than the stock ones, but it's not too bad. Mine will do me just fine until i get new suspension (hopefully Koni Adjustables if i've got the money) I'm seriously looking at getting my suspension replaced after i finish my stereo, to smoothen the ride out a lot.

Good luck with it man, and keep up the good work! =)
