Nice looking car. How much was it for the full rebuild, and also the td04? I'm considering a turbo swap, also. What did you get it off??

Is the TX3 a turbo also???

Nice car thumbup.gif

the td04 i think would be a nice turbo to start off with, i pressume its off a wrx? which shows that it will easily push 200hp on 14 pounds compared to the 150 odd hp on the same boost on the ihi. If it is a td04 from a wrx are you planning to put on a vf series turbo in the future maybe a vf34 or something since its the same flange?

Anyway let us know how the install goes, make sure you go to a decent manifold maker though, you dont want constant exhaust leaks.

btw subbai i think the 4wd turbo tx3's came colour coded...

thanx for the replies guys, i am not quite sure on an exact price but i got every thing done for $3500, thats including the porting, and the h/d clutch so my guess is about $2500. the td04 is from a 2000 wrx.

mx68u...... u said the turbo would go alright??, i have been told it will be good by some and been told it would be shit by others, what do u reckon???

but before i put the turbo on i want to get a custom manifold and a new i/c with new stainless piping

yeah its definately an upgrade and it wont cause much lag at all, i would expect a stronger midrange and topend with that wrx turbo..

good thing is that if for whateva reason its not enough there are quite a few more options that will be a direct swap with that model td04 including all the vf series turbos (mostly bb) with the vf22 rated at 350hp. Another option would be to go with an earlier model WRX turbo namely the td05 which is much larger than your current version, the car will be faster and much stronger in the mid - top range however you will loose some bottom end. Reason why they decided to reduce the turbo on later model wrx's for better bottom end response.

i should be throwing up my IC soon, just have to get some leaking problems sorted with the exhaust manifold.

notice you're running 3" exhaust, does that give you any problems? not that it should, i just thought you couldn't run one that big because it would flow too much for the computer and the car would shut down. i'm probably gonna go 3" with a new cat and muffler if its possible, otherwise 2.5".
thanks
