This is my Torrie, found her out west, only done 21,000 miles till an old fella went round australia twice, Thats when I picked it up. 3Spd column manual, 2850 straight six, widened stock rims, stereo, tacho. No major dramas yet, (touch wood). In the near future i have some pretty tame plans, but im saving for a major conversion of some kind, not sure whether to go V8 or Turbo 6. anyway this is what she is at the moment. A bog stock head turner. |

Not a real goer yet but shes still a nice ride for 32 years old. The engines gettin a bit tired and the diff has a few rattles but its still goin as hard as the day i picked it up.
the 18.5 cannot be justified as it was a drag the previous owner did. the 112hp is quoted from a dyno slip that has since disappeared somewhere in the fray of mechanics and panel beaters to assist me to keep it up to shape.

Nice ride. Despite the fact that i love my V8s (just look at my car) I must say that a turbo six is probably the way to go. I'd look at an RB series nissan motor, they are pretty cheap from an engine importers and I'm told they will go in on VL engine mounts. They make real easy power too, I've been told of an LJ with an RB30 turbo from a VL that is running 12s with minor mods. A V8 is doable but a lot harder for clearance around the sterring and the exhaust system. What about a lexus 4.0L V8? I've always thought that would be great in an LJ. |
