I just try to help as much as I can

By the way those are the only 2 intercoolers I have ever found that are made for this car.

heres someone you can talk too in qld..

http://www.are.com.au/

the manufactures of this ic which went for $1000 - $1200, same setup as the original just a little bigger in every dimension.... you can actually get something a little bigger if you want but you will need to mod the bonnet latch and perhaps get a smaller fan off a newer car... new stock ic's are $1200 from japan so it should be an option, goodluck!

90tx5 - Are you looking to keep the standard piping or upgrade that too.

The quick gold 626 that used to be around town had a truck core with custom end tanks and pipework done by someone in cairns I believe. Cost him a fair bit, but not much more than the mx68u posted.

Do you know lee watkins? Drives a white series 4 with a very very big front mount on it. He has been known to deal with truck cores, with custom end tanks for about $500. I think he gets the cores then gets someone to weld them up. I am pretty sure I know the place that would do the end tanks, so perhaps it could be an idea looking for a good garret truck core or something to slice up. When he did have do his cores he would charge about $500 with endtanks to suit. Then you would have to find someone to do the piping, which can be a bit of a bitch I believe.

yeah i heard lee does that stuff, but i do want to change my ic piping get bigger and stainles steel!!

but i heard truck cores arn't as high flowing as normal coolers???

but your saying the he will get the core make it to custom size, get somebody to weld end tanks on and have it completely finished at $500????? roughly

but i would get bob to do the ic piping i have seen his work be4 and it's good

I know lee used to get them made up when he suitably sized cores. Unfortunately you would havent much of a choice in the size, as its pretty much what he has got. Endtanks were up to you though , as in where the inlets and exits were.

The reason I talk past tense though is because I dont know if he still does that. But 500-650 was the type of range most of them were in.

As for how worthwhile truck cores, depends who you talk too and what type of core. I believe some of the garret cores are pretty good. The 626 I keep talking about had a truck core (one of lees old ones I believe) and made 171kw at the wheels.

Anyway heres another avenue. Check out this link

well i might give lee a burl., but who would u reckomend abut the end tanks??

wouldn't the inlet and exit be on the same side, for less piping??

yeah if you can get the piping done in the same format as the longer and widther the pipe's the more lag you will experience, true the top/bottom endtank design isnt the most efficient but it is a good compromise to keep the turbo boosting early cool.gif

Certain truck cores can be good but not all of them, some of the internals are just too big with fins that are really small reducing the effectiveness on air cooling so beware. Also since no truck cores are efficient as aftermarket performance cores you will be required to use a larger core to do the same job, if you dont want to cut up your bar than maybe something like the one i posted will be the better option as it will enable you to fit the biggest and more efficient core wink.gif

I am currently looking at a ic that is the same size as the link I in my first post on this topic. But the one I am looking at will cost HALF if that. It also has very little (not measured my anyone yet) pressure drop. I know it will work as someone is pushing what I would estimate about 400hp with one. I guess you all want to know what it is then huh?

It is off of a truck......The Isuzu NPR.

Don't know if you guys have them where you are but the are like a small semi sort of.

Just a cab with a flat bed and side rails to hold everying in/on the bed

Thought this would help some of you out if you didn't want to spend a ton of $ and wanted a very good ic

i like the ic that mx68u posted, eaarlier.
it is nice size and flows pretty good but i think it costs a little to much!!!!
it's like $1000, thats a bit to much money

and i like that it sits on the stnd mounts, but i want 1 to sit right in the middle si it gets good flow

and i could get a custom 1 made for alot cheaper
