HOWDY. I'M LOOKING TO USE A 1983 FORD COURIER 2WD CHASSIS AS THE BASIS OF A "RAT ROD". PLANS AT THIS STAGE ARE TO RE-BODY IT WITH A 1949 FORD PREFECT BODY (WELL BITS OF IT ANYWAY) THAT I HAVE TUCKED AWAY IN THE BACK YARD, ALTHOUGH I AM WAITING TO LOOK AT A FIBREGLASS '32 FORD ROADSTER BODY TO SEE IF IT MIGHT BE SUITABLE.
THE COURIER CHASSIS IS MUCH STIFFER THAN THE ORIGINAL PREFECT CHASSIS, AND HAS THE ADVANTAGE OF DISC BRAKE FRONT, AND INDEPENDANT FRONT SUSPENSION.
I WAS WONDERING IF ANYBODY COULD TELL ME:
-WOULD THE COURIER CHASSIS NEED TO BE REINFORCED TO TAKE THE V8?
-HOW TO UPGRADE BRAKES TO LARGER,eg FALCON, HQ, COMMODORE, ETC
I AM LOOKING TO COMPLETE THE PACKAGE WITH FORD 9" OR CENTURA DIFF.
THE PLAN IS TO RUN IT ON LPG TO HELP WITH EMISSIONS COMPLIANCE, AND FUEL COSTS.
THE ENGINE WILL BE MOUNTED FURTHER BACK ALONG THE CHASSIS TO BRING THE RADIATOR/GRILLE ALMOST IN LINE WITH THE FRONT AXLE, AND FOR MORE EVEN WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION.

-ANY ADVICE,SUGGESTIONS,COMMENTS WOULD BE APPRECIATED!

THANX,
ROX
