I've just bought a Lancer Evo 3 but the insurance company have advised that it's been 'reshelled'. If anyone could shed any light on this it would be great as i'm not entirely sure what it means. I was of the understanding that I was buying a genuine Evo 3 and everything else seems to be OK. Does this mean that when they import the car it is brought in as another vehicle/parts or have I been duped/ripped off? I also have a 1992 GSR Lancer and there are distinct differences between the two. Thanx |

Look, im taking a guess here, but i would guess that when they say re shelled, that is exactly what it is - a car that was stacked or whatever, and a new shell was bought, and the car was re built form the old ones parts.
So what that means is although the car originally was a genuine evo 3, the person crashed it, and a new shell had to be sourced. I'm guessing that means for you it isn't insured for as much, as it isn't a 100% geuine and original evo 3.
But that is how i would read into that.
