Hi Guys The MX6 I bought seems to rev really high, at 110 in 5th gear it revs at almost 4000 and the tacho needle bounces alot (really annoying) At 60 in fourth gear its reving at 2600
Can anyone tell me what theirs rev at and if its not normal how to fix it?
Cheers Froste |

Those revs do sound high. Im guessing you have a cable speedo, which would explain the bouncing, as if part of the cable frays, it can rub and grab which causes the speedo to bounce. As for the revs the way they are, that indicates to me that either a lower ratio diff has been installed (perhaps an lsd from another model) or the less likely option, that the gears have been altered (either the the box was switched, or it had been rebuilt and had different gear fitted.
Check the car for little stickers or placards from workshops, and call or visit the shops to see if they can remember what work they carried out on the car. You might find a diff/trans specialist sticker on the car, and you may find out why the gearing is so low.
Although if i recall your from the states, so those figures are in miles, in which case those revs are pretty normal.
