J.Z's Comments:

This is my 1976 Ford Capri Mk2, OHC 016, This car is used specifically for local drag racing events specific for 'street cars'. The engine in the photos is a 2.0litre SOHC Pinto increased to 2.1litre. But currently the car is powered by a 1.6litre SOHC Pinto. This solution is temporary for this year, hopefully next year a new and improved 2litre SOHC stroked to 2.4 will find its place in the Capri's engine bay. The Capri debuted this year in February during a local drag racing event organised by the MDRA (Malta Drag Racing Association) www.maltadragracing.com . Unfortunately I was eliminated on the first round after blewing the gear box. The 1.6 SOHC proved to be a handful for the Quaife box.

With my previous 2.1 SOHC i was running 13.2 @ 105 with a 2.0 60feet. I had to take the motor out because it needed improvements I couldn't get below the 13.2. Now I have a 1.6 SOHC in it and in my first outing this year I registered only a 14.8 @ 90 with 2.6 60feet.

Right now the car is far from what it used to be, the difference between the 2.1 and the 1.6 is huge. And I don't have the correct axle and final drive right now. I am using a 3.9:1 while with the 2.1 I was using a 4.6:1. I think this year I'll be stuck with the 1.6 but I believe there is room for improvement.

Next year I hope I will manage to race with my new 2.4 SOHC engine.
